Neighborhood Matching Grants

Neighborhood Matching Grants

City is now accepting applications for Year 3 grants

Do you have an idea for a project, event, or initiative that could help improve your neighborhood?

The City’s Neighborhood Matching Grant Program wants to help!

In 2016 and 2017, the following neighborhood groups were the recipients of Neighborhood Matching Grants: Islay Hill/Arbors Neighbors, the Cerro San Luis Foothills Neighbors, the Mitchell Park Neighbors and Serra Meadows Neighbors. They improved their neighborhoods in a variety of ways. Projects included: Trail clean-up; seasonal social gatherings; installation of drought-tolerant park landscaping; and neighborhood parties and emergency preparedness.

This year, it could be your neighborhood that benefits!

$20,000 in funding for Neighborhood Matching Grants has been programmed for distribution in the City’s FY17-19 Financial Plan. Grant requests can range from $250 to $5,000. For every dollar awarded by the City, your neighborhood must provide an equal or greater match consisting of volunteer labor, donated professional services or donated materials.

The purpose of the program is to support grassroots projects that enhance and strengthen our neighborhoods. All projects are initiated, planned and implemented by neighborhood members in partnership with the City.

This year, the application process has been streamlined and funding has increased. Applications are due on February 12, 2018, and the Human Relations Commission (HRC) will make funding decisions on April 4, 2018. Neighbors are required to discuss their projects with staff before they submit an application.

Complete information, including a list of project ideas, is included in the grant guidelines on the Neighborhood Matching Grant program page at www.slocity.org/nmg

A Neighborhood Matching Grant Information Meeting will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017, from 12-1 pm at 919 Palm St, Conference Room 1.
